La Solitaire du Figaro

[ Saturday, July 31th, 4.10 PM ]

Liz’ boat has been quite damaged when dismasting. Hull has almost nothing but the rig is not in a good state. Rigging parts have to be replaced in order she can start 3rd leg in good conditions. There is also some work on electronics but all that could have been worse. Liz has avoided a major boat’s damage by having the right reactions when the mast fell down.

Since last night, Liz and her technical team helped by Emma Richars’yard Pindar, have worked on the mast foot which was really in a bad state and set up all the rigging in order to go to Vendée in safety conditions.
It is not possible to replace the injured parts in England in a good time, therefore eol technical team supported by one of Liz’partners 3M, is going to set up all that to fix a new rig as soon as Liz arrives in Saint Gilles croix de vie on tuedsay.

The Papua New Guinean-Australian skipper should leave Portsmouth tonight with her preparator Dingo, having put back the old mast and rigging.
Countdown has started for Liz to be at the start of the 3rd leg next Thursday at 2 PM in good conditions, in direction to Gijon (Spain) via Belle-Ile.
