Allianz, co-sponsor of BMW Oracle Racing has recently employed Professor Tom Cannon, Dean of Business at the University of Buckingham, in order to analyse the first economic impact of the 32nd America’s Cup.
According to him, the America’s Cup is the 3d biggest sporting event in the world after the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup and is the competition with the largest winning prize : you get to organize the next event.

Cannon’s estimates the 32nd America’s Cup will have an economic impact of around $8-9 billion. To compare like with like, the economic impact of the last Olympic Games in Athens was equal to $13 to 14 billion.

So the question everybody is asking : who will be the lucky organiser of the 33rd America’s Cup? Is the Cup going to stay in Europe of going back to the Southern Hemisphere?

Answer between the 29th of June and the 4th of July in Valencia
